Meet our Editor-in-chief: Donna Smith, BA, M.ED

Allow me to introduce our Editor-in-Chief, Donna Smith.  I feel Donna is probably the most uniquely qualified person anywhere to head up our BaptistVoice online magazine.   

Donna has been a highly successful writer all her adult life.  A high school dropout at 16, at 37, she returned to college on a GED.  She earned her associate’s degree from Western Oklahoma State College.  She received her bachelor’s degree of language arts from Cameron University and her master’s degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  She was one of the first 25 teachers across the state to be chosen for the Oklahoma Writers Project. 

Smith resides in Tipton, Oklahoma. She is a retired secondary public school English teacher after 23 years with the Altus School District and after four years of having taught literature and research writing for the Wayland Baptist University campus site on Altus Air Force Base, Altus, Oklahoma. Co-author of a six-week mini-Bible course and prayer journal, Understanding God's Mysteries, Smith devotes her non-teaching time to writing. Her work has been published in, among others, Guideposts, A Sixth Serving of Chicken Soup for the Soul, Mature Living, Home Life, Mature Years, Standard, Open Windows, Journey, Christian Social Action, Writer Magazine, Instructor…. She is a speaker and seminar presenter for inspirational writing groups. Currently, she also writes feature articles for five area newspapers and publishes the online monthly magazine Victory Herald at www.victoryherald.com  

Twice widowed, Smith has five children, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
